State of DAKKA PRESS PRESENTS Oct 2020 [edited]

TLDR: It seems we may not have enough DAKKA.

DAKKA PRESS PRESENTS  is currently on hiatus. The ~3 hours I’ve been able to carve out for projects weekly has not been sufficient for spearheading an operation like this.

Life is good here, but it’s back to the drawing board.  DAKKA PRESS PRESENTS may rise again in another form (and I believe we did have an episode or two mostly finished that we may put up), but we’ll have to see what the future holds.  Thanks all!

[original text] Hi All,

This is Patrick Mares, team founder and doer of things and stuff.

You have probably noticed a lack of updates for the last 6 months and we want put out an update on exactly what is going on behind the scenes.

In the last half year or so I have managed to have a kid, change jobs and get at least about 3/4 of the way through some planned and suddenly very necessary home renovations.

Unfortunately not much gets done around here when I’m not available, so we’ve been more or less at a standstill.

Fortunately I am still committed to maintaining DAKKA PRESS presents as a monthly-ish podcast when and as able.  We have the next 5 episodes planned out and very much intend to hit our promised publish date for our first purchased piece.

When those are finished we’ll take a look at where we are and likely take another hiatus to rebuild our bank of fiction.

We are also working to catch up to submissions over this period. Fiction submissions have been temporarily closed for this reason.

If you would like to get involved with DAKKA PRESS we are currently looking for people interested in providing fiction workshop-style critiques and/or interested in voicing roles. See our submissions page for details.

Below is the upcoming schedule and state of completion

Under the City: Short story, Magical Realism, read ficiton, multiple readers

  • 90% of tracks were recorded.  We have to dig them out and record 4 bit parts before we can start prepping it for publication.

Anabysis (3 episodes): Novellette, Fantasy Epic, read fiction, single reader

  • Initial writing and editing complete, has not yet received workshop critique

Slugabed: Audioplay, horror, multiple readers with effects and editing

  • Date for team recording under discussion.
